With the impending arrival of about 50 buses filled with immigrants form Central America, Texas Governor Greg Abbott reportedly sent about 500 Texas DPS officers to the small town of Eagle Pass, where the caravan was expected to cross the border.

According to KRIS-TV, dozens of patrol vehicles lined the northern bank of the Rio Grande with their emergency lights flashing, indicating that no passage would be permitted without individuals first having undergone the process to obtain asylum.

The vetting process for asylum allows for about a dozen and a half applications to be processed each day. As they await their turn for application, members of the caravan are being sheltered in an old warehouse.
